Trang Travel Guide
Trang is a province abundant with history, breathtaking scenery and (most importantly) 25° sunshine all year round!
Located in the south of Thailand, Trang boasts scorching hot weather with average lows (even in December) of 22°. The province is also home to one of the most incredible coastlines of the Andaman Sea: its 199km of glistening white sands is enough to make any agoraphobic want to hit the beach!
Although a somewhat overlooked Thai tourist destination (compared to the honey pot Bangkok), Trang has a hugely significant history involving foreign trade. As it was the first city to grow rubber, Trang still has huge economic importance due to rubbers importance as a Thai commodity.
The introduction of rubber to Trang made it one of Thailands most important sea ports and it was this significance that lead to the provinces name. According to myth, the ships never came to the province in the evening, only in the morning. The Malay word for light is terang, a clear derivative of the modern Trang.
In addition to its mainland beaches, Trang is home to several offshore islands which provide plenty to see and do, as well as being stunning scenic masterpieces. The islands boast incredible geographic beauty in the form of jungles and waterfalls, giving them excellent potential as tourist destinations. So breathtaking are the sights, these islands could transport any frazzled city-dweller into a sanctuary of scenic tranquil with ease.
Although Trang has lots of things to do and has a vibrant and exciting nightlife, the scenery alone is enough reason to get over to Trang and leave your worries behind. So come on down! Learn the history, see the beauty and experience paradise.
